Outside with mother earth

Spring is here finally and happy almost earth day
I realized this winter we were perhaps indoors too much.  Though we did plenty of activities and baking and crafting... there is something to be said for the peacefulness and beauty of nature,  in all her seasons and being outdoors.
It was me.  I am too chicken about the cold and we limited ourselves to yard play and the occasional park excursion.
In life we go about our day in and out of the car, in and out of our errands and visits and cosy in our own home environment.  But Honeypie and I have made a pact... we are going to stop and look more... stop and enjoy more... be in present moment just a little bit more.  In our excitement of it all, we tend to be always in search,  ahead, ... what is there to do?  what are we doing?  where are we going??  and our idea is to just ... BE.  Just be... a little bit more.

On soulemama's blog she posted this quote:

"Peace is present right here and now, in ourselves and in everything we do and see. The question is whether or not we are in touch with it. We don't have to travel far away to enjoy the blue sky. We don't have to leave our city or even our neighborhood to enjoy the eyes of a beautiful child. Even the air we breathe can be a source of joy."

And we are starting our season with this.
There is magic in silence... in stillness.  There is magic in you and I.  Honeypie said to me last night after dinner... "lets just sit here and just look at each other"!  And we did.  Kind of funny... but really... besides the times I stare at her as she sleeps... this felt different... new.   Her looking at me and me looking at her.
"mama... you are the bestest best mama in all of space and the whole universe", she says.

"And you are an amazing daughter, little girl".... I say.

Painting outdoors.... rabbit ears, ruby slippers and jammies...

The beauty of the first wild flowers...

a nest being built...

mushrooms on a log...

fresh budding blooms...

strange but interesting bark on a tree...

the beauty of the breeze on the water...

the artful paper wasp nest...

A newly hatched egg...

and the surprise of a praying mantis caccoon!

On sunday we went for a walk about at a nature preserve. It was the perfect spring day.  We all played who could find the most interesting "treasures".  We can't figure out who won... we were all so overwhelmed by the "magic" of all that we found.   The quiet sounds of our breathing as we walked, the birds overhead, the wind on the trees.    It is amazing what you can see and find,  if only you take the time to really look.

HAPPY EARTH DAY!
