Musings

Sometimes I feel so far away from the city... even though it's kinda right there....
The days that have me traveling in, visiting friends , family ,or enjoying the nightlife of those seldom babysitting days... Make me reminisce of that life left behind.
I miss the city and I don't miss the city .
I find myself walking swiftly among the masses...
I grab on to my purse Like a life line...
I try to search for faces ...no one is looking up...
( Funny how in a city so small you never bump into anyone twice ...)
I walk fast ... My feet get me to the places my 4runner now does.
I was a city girl and now I am not quite the county gal...
But...I Wouldn't go back ....
Wouldn't want to raise honeypie there.

The noise of the city bussle has been replaced by the noise of that wacky woodpecker pecking at the feeder and the blue jay that is quite pissed to have to wait his turn.... It's ok. I've left that NY savvy behind ... replaced by a "how are you doing?" and playdate business cards that tell the newbie what days we can hang.
I don't want to share my traveling seat with thy neighbors lap... I don't want to grab on to the subway pole touched by half of NYC before noon...(oh I've seen that 20/20 special on skin eating disease)
I want to pick my nose in the solitude of my car... and would rather argue with the minivan mom than with the loco on the subway whose foot I've just stepped on.
I want to worry about chippy the chipmunk digging tunnels in my lawn rather than giant cockaroaches living in my pantry...

As I make my way to the zen of my acupuncture session ...
Amongst the zipping taxies and beeping and zooming of city buses...

Here's a small glimpse of some things I do miss...

And just in case I forget why we moved away...
Here's a nice reminder....

what a wonderful post, I didn't know how awesome the city (as in cities in general) could be until I lived in one but since having Wednesday my priorities have shifted and I want clean air and space for her. Oh and a garden!
