I was thinking about resolutions and wishes and goals to accomplish and everything obvious a new year seems to bring to mind...
Wanted to write an inspiring entry like I did last year (peek here)...
but all I kept coming back to was the words of Ram Dass... "Remember...Be here now".
Not the future ... not the past... no list making and no regrets but just holding the present blessings that are in our lives right now. Loving and living that.
The word "friendship" came to mind. The word "family".
How important that is to us. As the 3 of us carefully craft a home here,
we are open. Our home has always been open. We open our door, share our table, our things, our lives with others. We open our ears, our hearts and in turn, we give and receive love.
That is what friendship is to us.
There is honesty there. There is "real" and "joy".
The joy that comes from real connections with others and loving what they are about.
That blessed feeling when we know we matter to someone... how we are loved in turn and how that touches us. How that matters.
That is what we have been showing Honeypie since she was born.
We hope that we are mirroring good things, love and the comforts of home and communication and the blessings of friends.
Honeypie was asking me a serious question the other day. She was confused and conflicted about missing old friends...
I told her that some people come into our lives and and quickly go ... that some may be far away but are always near just a phone call away and that some come and stay for a long while and leave footprints. I told her that inside her there is magic... golden sparkles that are her being...that, which she shares forth with others. That it is wonderful how open she is but that it was important to feel that sparkle in return. That she deserves the love from people that make her feel good and make her smile and rise up her spirits. That those who cannot give that forth are perhaps those that quickly come and go in our lives. It's ok.
It is just a part of life. It made her sad but she understood.
In these busy moments... there is only right now.
And right now what matters is the love that comes from real friendship and the family you build around that .
Simple, true , based on deep communication that grows as we ourselves grow too. Spiritually, emotionally, personally and physically.
For without friendship or family, how could we make those footprints?
Without communication, how would be know what is in each other's hearts?
How would we know what is in each of our minds and how would we continue to share joy together, the ebbs and flows of our daily lives ...its ups and downs and and go forth, onward into our days? learning from each other?
What matters for you?
Inside each of us there is golden sparkles... that which is our being.
And only those who listen closely will feel the magic of that.
"On friendship" by Khalil Gibran
And a youth said, "Speak to us of Friendship."
Your friend is your needs answered.
He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.
And he is your board and your fireside.
For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.
When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the "nay" in your own mind, nor do you withhold the "ay."
And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart;
For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed.
When you part from your friend, you grieve not;
For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.
And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.
For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught.
And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.
For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.
And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Magic & sparkles indeed.
ReplyDeleteThanks lady. :)
ReplyDeleteI see and feel your sparkles! ;)
Amazing the blessings of wonderful real and true loving friends.
(Who has time for the fake, the nonsense or the drama? not me.
(Sad though, the time and positive energy wasted and invested in a friendship one might have loved and cared for and the harsh realization that they never really did the same for you. no?)
But what can you do... so is life.
