Happy Halloween!

Of course we needed to be a unicorn this Halloween! :)
Mama had it easy this year making the costume. I found a fluffy vest with a hood and just embellished it with ears, mane, tail and a golden horn.
Super cute!














We made a couple more crafts and even got around to making a delicious carrot / red lentil dip with toasted ghostly corn tortillas!

Getting ready for the tooth fairy...

Our check-up at the dentist reveals that we have a first loose tooth and boy are we excited!!!!




It's very wiggly today, so we are preparing for the tooth fairy to come maybe this week!
Today we read this great book about tooth fairies and made a fairy pouch to put our tooth in!







"The Tooth Fairy" by Gaby Goldsack is a cute book to introduce kids to the idea of a tooth fairy and it has a cute feature at the end, where kids can log each tooth they loose.




We made a little tooth pouch to hold our first tooth.
I drew a little tooth on felt for honeypie and cut it out twice.




I embroidered a mouth and eyes..








And honeypie sewed it together, leaving a little opening for the tooth fairy to go in and out of!

Plastic bag holder

This was made with love for my depeche mode, earth loving friend, Judy and her newly renovated kitchen which is by the way, kick-a$@!!

A sewn and hand embroidered bag to hold and recycle supermarket plastic bags .
(If you are a child of the 80's, you'll get the pun!)

I embroidered the hand and words on a piece of denim cloth about 14"x25"... Depends on how long or wide you would like it.
(But I bet you could use an old set of jeans and cut off a leg for this ?)



I hemmed the top and bottom but on the bottom seam I made it wider so that I could stick a ribbon through.




I sewed a ribbon on the top for hanging.




And this is a close up of the bottom seam with the ribbon through .







This is what it looks like finished.







And here it is stuffed with bags!
